A Message from Our CEO – August 2026

“Handwriting. It’s a ceremony.”

- Quentin Tarantino

The history of writing goes something like this:

In the beginning, Betty and Barney Rubble chiseled onto stone tablets when ordering at the local drive through. Then, in 700 AD, monks would scratch ink and feather onto stretched animal skin parchment by candlelight sporting stylish monk Birkenstock sandals and itchy robes in the freezing cold. Then, in one of their greatest generational accomplishments, boomers invented the humble Post-it note in 1974.

And now it is Gen Z is leading the posting revolution. Physical, tangible, palpable-- Gen Z is enthusiastically leading the analog revival zeitgeist in the workplace, shunning the lure of shiny AI.

A recent survey found that 94% of Gen Z and millennial office workers say crossing something off a paper to-do list feels more satisfying than checking a digital box. And 56% of Gen Z workers would rather leave a colleague a Post-it than send a direct message.

One Gen Z worker said handwriting helps him focus and remember information better than typing.

Think about that.

We have spent billions creating technology that allows us to communicate instantly from anywhere. And Gen Z wants to stick a little yellow paper square on your monitor.

Why?

Because you can see it, you can touch it, you can throw it away. No app to load. It quietly sits there.

Humans like to write things down. We underestimate this.

In the Business Insider article on the subject, one excited Gen Z gushed, “it’s a tangible upgrade to my well-being.” Another says, “it gives me joy to personalize my own space."

As a manager I’m thinking, Geez, if adorning your cubicle with a collection of little square pieces of paper puts you in your happy place, well then, hustle on over to Staples and buy a case.

It reminds me of buying a wasteland of plastic, battery-operated toys for Christmas, and my boys went straight for the large cardboard box where they could make a fort.

Never. Underestimate. Old-School.

– Warren
